The elegant, minimalist form and flowing lines are characteristic of Wirkkala’s sculptural approach to design. Originally designed in the 1970s, this iconic bird combines a beautifully balanced silhouette with an exceptionally smooth, powdery matte porcelain surface.

The simple form is particularly striking from different angles, making this piece as much a sculptural object as a decorative figurine.

The underside is signed/marked.

In 2012, Rosenthal produced a limited edition of this model, making the Icediver a sought-after piece among collectors of Wirkkala and Scandinavian design.
